Lyrical/contemporary dance requires strength and flexibility, so this class will focus on conditioning in addition to learning choreography.
New for 2020/21: Adult Lyrical dance class. Wednesdays, 12:00 noon. Starting July 2020 and running monthly.
Creative Movement: This class is structured to be a child's first independent dance class. The class focuses on large motor activities and rhythm exercises. This class does participate in the end of season recital in May. Recommended for dancers at least 3 years of age.
Kindergarten Combination Class: This class will study ballet/acrobatics.
Dancekids Studio is an Acrobatic Arts certified studio. The focus of an acro dance class is to develop flexibility, strength, balance and tumbling skills. Dancers will move through thoughtful progressions which allow them to progress from log rolls and baby bridges to walkovers and aerials across the floor. Advanced Acro is by instructor placement. Please contact the studio for more information about this class.
Musical Theatre classes will focus on dance technique, but will also practice acting exercises and learn to memorize song lyrics.
Tap class is a style of American theatrical dance, distinguished by percussive footwork and rhythms. At Dancekids, we stress the basics of tap while also teaching musicality and rhythm.
Saturdays at Dancekids:
Upper level Competition teams have rehearsals on Saturday from 8:30 - 12:30. Competition Team junior ballet will be held on Saturday from: 9:00 am - 10:00 am and competition team senior ballet (13+), 10:00 am - 11:00 am. These ballet classes are in addition to a competition team dancers weekly ballet class. They are not intended to replace the dancer's weekly ballet class. They are not recital performance classes so they do not require the purchase of a costume.
